Dan Patch Days provides a great opportunity to experience all the fun, festivities and food of a family vacation this summer – all in our own backyard. Dan Patch Days is held at the end of June and is a family-focused event that offers something for everyone. Throughout the weekend, and estimated 15,000 people come to the Community Park in Savage to enjoy wonderful food, fantastic entertainment, spectacular fireworks, a street parade and much more. From a petting zoo and pony rides to a parade and live music, Dan Patch Days is much more than just a few days of horsing around.
Each year, Dan Patch Days celebrates the most famous resident of the city of Savage. A horse named Dan Patch. Dan Patch has been called the King of the Pacers, The Worlds’ Champion Harness Horse, the Great Dan Patch and the greatest harness horse in the history of the two-wheel sulky The only horse in racing history to break the two-minute mile barrier 35 times.
The foundation sponsors the 1-mile Fun Run and the 5K PACE. Both events start at Lifetime Fitness and end at the Community Park.
